Symmetry Lesson Plan

I just found a great lesson plan on symmetry at:

http://lionsden.tec.selu.edu/~smathis/645/symmetry_plan.htm

What I liked about it:  it addresses both line and rotational symmetry, symmetry is studied with geometric shapes and in nature (tie to real life), the new material can be explored at the student’s pace and is somewhat open-ended, manipulatives are used, and how students will be assessed is  well documented.

One big downside is that you need computers and internet access.  However, for me, this will not be a problem this year since I will be teaching technology in a computer lab.  I’ve been thinking of having many lessons that compliment the Math courses that my students will be learning.  So this would be a good choice to supplement the Math teachers as they are teaching symmetry in their classes.  I can support that learning with technology and this particular lesson plan!
